15 JulHere and Now

What a surprise. Lots of time has passed since my last post. I blame it all on facebook. It’s a great way to connect with people you have crossed paths with, but is a little scary how it has become such a norm with everyone. I knew it was bad when we were in Nova Scotia and I said to Jocelyn, “You could use that for your facebook picture!” Horrible!

I am pleased to say that I got a job working with a little guy with autism right after I finished my placement. I love it. I am so happy with my decision to go back to school to further my education and specialize in a particular area. I love what I do. I just got a promotion to lead therapist after working with him for two months. This was accompanied by a $2.00 raise which is awesome.

I had this past week off and kept myself busy with painting the spare bedroom, re-finishing an old rocking chair and starting to re-finish a dresser. I have discovered I thoroughly enjoy re-finishing furniture. It is so rewarding discovering what lies beneath and re-creating its original form. I honestly get lost in time during the process.

We have been looking at houses all over the city and even outside of the city. One minute I would love to live in the country with acreage and no neighbours and then the next minute I want to be downtown close to everything. It is really confusing and hard to figure out what I really want. We are in no hurry to move, which is a good thing so we are not rushed to make a decision, but it is fun going through open houses and trying to get a better feel as to what it is I really want. I am sure we will find what we are looking for when we are supposed to. I thought we were pretty close today, but it is a little too far from Kingston.

I have moved all of the autism information I had posted to my new business website: Kingston Regional Autism Services. It is something that I am working on developing as well and hopefully increasing my clientelle.

Talk to you soon!

25 JanDamn Facebook

Well I gave into signing up for Facebook. Matt caught me this morning on it. I know! It feels so wrong, yet it is quite enjoyable searching for people that you know or haven’t thought of in a long time. Once you find that person, you can then browse their friend’s list and see if you know anyone on there and then so on. It gets a little addictive. I am not sure how much I will actually use it, but at least I can say yes next time someone asks me if I have a facebook account. I don’t know if I should be proud of that either!
Meh! On a side note, I fell down the stairs this morning and my butt is sore! Well it was more like a thud and then a little slide down the stairs. Off to go have a coffee and watch Regis and Kelly!

21 JanI have returned…

I know, I know….it has been way too long. I bet that is the most commonly used phrase for unfrequent bloggers like myself. Honestly, I have been busy with school and work and all my free time has gone to assignments, etc. That will prolly be the case again very shortly, but I am going to try my best to stay on top of it. As you can see, I have added an autism awareness page that I am going to be adding info to on a regular basis. I am also going to add links to useful websites with lots of info about autism.

An update:

I was fortunate enough to take a trip to England over the Christmas holidays. Matt’s sister, Brianne, is there for two years, oddly enough, working in a school/group home for teenagers with autism. She also graduated as a child and youth worker. While we were in England we were able to visit London and Cambridge. For New Years, Matt, Brianne and I went to Barcelona, Spain. That was quite the experience. It was non-stop crazy herds of people from 8am to 4am. In a nutshell, scary hotel; better hotel (yay sleep finally!!); tonnes of humans, can’t see any scenery; New Year’s Day, no humans, wow beautiful surroundings!!; Fly back to England! PHEW! Okay, so that is a pretty big nutshell. For more details and photos visit Matt’s site. He has spent about three days writing a novel, covering every detail of our Christmas adventure.

I am very grateful that we had the opportunity to go to England and Spain. I appreciate the fact that Matt and I are able to travel and enjoy this world we live in. But next time, Matt, an all inclusive holiday, please??? Much more relaxing and no sore limbs! Although I did enjoy losing three pounds ;)

To all my fans (haha), a happy new year and all the best!

15 OctFinally, I hear Matt say….

I am finally using my website for something, and something I said I would never do. We will see how often I actually use it.

I was thinking, even if I did want to write things down that are on my mind, I think I still might sensor myself; especially if people are reading it. What if I comment about someone that reads this and they find out the truth about how I really feel?? Who knows. I will see what I am inspired to write and how I utilize this whole blogging site. I’m still not too sure!
